DEVELOP STRATEGIES FOR DOWNTOWN

Develop strategies for Downtown revitalization after the dissolution of redevelopment including public/private partnerships, master planning, special districts, assessment and clean-up and re-use options; Develop opportunities for citizen based community improvement program (CBIP) to directly improve downtown, creating vibrancy and facilitating participation, partnerships and ownership in Downtown neighborhoods;

PROMOTE A RANGE OF HOUSING

To provide a range of housing in Downtown, promoting infill, re-use, mixed-use, transit-orientated development and housing mixes with density no less than 17.5(?) net dwelling units per acres, that provide urban housing opportunities and promote social equity for a diverse range of ethnicities, capabilities, and age groups;

ACT FOR PRESERVATION

Provide workable solutions for saving for re-use the historic buildings in Downtown, valuing the importance of the historical infrastructure, and promoting preservation and the significance of history to downtown; Promoting the value of historic resources for deconstruction and salvage re-installation if the solution is to remove structures. 

PROMOTE PUBLIC ART

To obtain funds from federal, state, and local governmental agencies in the form of grants, tax credits or forgivable loans so long as the grant funds may be used to promote the purposes of the Corporation; To raise funds via contributions from business groups, corporations, private foundations, and individuals as large, who wish to contribute to this Corporation, in order to further the purposes of this Corporation; 

SEEK FUNDING FOR DOWNTOWN

Develop communication strategies that connects and promotes Downtown to its community, residents, businesses and agencies using Downtown; Support opportunities to promote activities, development or initiatives that build on the uniqueness, history and importance of Downtown; 

BUILD PARTNERSHIPS

To promote and stimulate economic and community development by strengthening relationships and build partnerships between the community, Downtown residents and businesses, youth and Downtown schools, government agencies, civic programs, universities, non-profits, and law enforcement; Support groups and coalitions without duplicating efforts with existing organizations seeking solutions for Downtown so as to integrate and strengthen each groups efforts;

CREATE COMMUNITY VISION FOR DOWNTOWN

Act as a non-profit developer for residential and mixed-use projects Downtown that are beyond the capabilities or resources of for-profit developers; Promote infill development, livable core and TOD (Transit orientated development) that improves walkability and access to transportation options to residents, businesses and visitors of Downtown;

DEVELOP PROJECTS

Promote public art in Downtown in public and private locations that will improve vibrancy and the value and uniqueness of Downtown spaces; Support public art, large and small as a keystone to urban living.       

INCREASE URBAN GREENING

Improve urban greening of Downtown in the areas of community gardens, street trees, parks and sidewalk spaces; Promote food security in urban farming and food-scaping;

IMPROVE WATERFRONT USE

Promote the health of our waterways and the valuable connection that water brings to our Downtown for recreation, resources and transportation;

PROMOTE SUSTAINABILITY

Promote the full breadth of sustainability in all activities and projects, including all aspects of the Corporation. Sustainability includes promoting energy and water efficiency, respect of existing resources, benefits of sustainability including life cycle costs, use of local resources, and alternate waste management options;
